Rectangular Callout: What the roots look like in late April
Rounded Rectangular Callout: In the peak of summer when the water temperatures have reached 72 degrees, you can see there are many more leaves and how close the roots are to the leaves, stems and flower stems. The thicker stems are flower stems that will create the flower buds. This picture was taken in early summer when the water was 72 degrees. This is an example of how the roots are feeding the leaves you can see they are right next to each other. You can also see how fast the crown of the plant is growing, the rhizome flesh color is still light.
