Last summer I purchased  3 packaged lilies, the choices were red, yellow, and pink and here’s what I found

Rounded Rectangular Callout: There was little hope for the second one it was so dried up that it was brittle. So if I had tossed the little burlap ball into the pond without looking at the rhizome I would still be waiting to see the leaves and the blooms that would never appear.
Rounded Rectangular Callout: Coconut husk and aggregate gravel with very sharp edges is what was inside the ball with the lily. Everything was held together by this mesh which looks like a fishing gill net. So my question at this point is what happens if the sharp gravel comes in contact with your pond liner and punctures a hole in the liner by walking on it or accidently putting a pot on top of it?
Rounded Rectangular Callout: The third lily was dead and came with a surprise as you can see in the picture on the left there was something very alive a caterpillar or some kind of worm not sure which. To bad the USDA missed this one. The picture on the right shows the crawling bug not to happy when I busted him eating my lily. I destroyed him, sure did not want his siblings populating in my ponds!!
Rounded Rectangular Callout: My other concern is this netting I am not sure what it is made of. Could be plastic or nylon either one will not decompose in the pond. So if you have fish in your pond, what happens when they get caught in the netting, since the netting is identical to fishing gill netting the fish will die. So the point I am trying to make here, is for few dollars more you could save yourself a lot of wasted time and maybe save some of your pets . These lilies wore priced from $6.95 to $9.95 it varied depending on which store was selling them. I am sure the genius who created this packaging was not concerned about customer care or satisfaction it was all about profit. In my opinion he or she never had a pond or a pet fish!!!
Rounded Rectangular Callout: Note the size of rhizome for the same variety lily that we sell for a few dollars more.
Not all varieties are the same size but all our lilies are shipped with leaves and in most cases with buds and blooms
Rounded Rectangular Callout: I am not trying to sell my lilies just trying to show you a comparison, something like comparing a pound of hamburger and pound of prime rib after all they are both beef, but they are not the same quality, the prime rib cost more but is a better quality product.
